Jason’s BigDeaL Trade Alert #4

By Jason Seagraves on 28-May-2015 13:40 pm (today)BigDeaL Alert,
The dollar has continued to show strength against foreign currencies, particularly the Japanese yen. Indeed, the greenback soared to a 12-year high against the yen on Wednesday, even as the euro made small gains on optimism in Greece. This caused oil prices to fall again, consistent with my "strong dollar/ weak oil" investment theme that has informed our Big Deal trades thus far.... (more)

Jason’s BigDeaL Trade Alert #3

By Jason Seagraves on 26-May-2015 12:14 pm (2 days ago)LaunchDL Alert
Greetings, Big Deal traders! I hope everyone had a relaxing Memorial Day weekend, filled with family and friends. Now it's time to dive back into the markets! Last week, in the Big Deal Newsletter #1, I said the U.S. dollar would resume its bullish trajectory against the euro, and this would send oil prices lower. Over the course of the previous week, the euro and oil had been gaining strength. Below are two-week charts for the euro and oil:... (more)

Chevron (CVX) vs. Exxon Mobil (XOM)

By Todd Johnson on 26-May-2015 4:23 am (3 days ago)AdvanceDL Analysis, ,
Tough to Compare Two Industry-Leading Dividend Aristocrats Chevron Corporation (NYSE: CVX) and Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE: XOM) are two of the world's largest integrated oil and gas companies. Chevron has refining operations in North America, South Africa and the Asia-Pacific with system capacity to process 1.9 million barrels of crude oil per day, and a solid sales and marketing presence in 84 countries. Exxon Mobil has been in the refinery business for over 100 years and processes over 1.9 million barrels of crude oil per day in the United States alone, and has a global presence in 50 countries. While Exxon Mobil has a slightly smaller global footprint than Chevron, it is the bigger of the two in production, revenue and market capitalization. Chevron operates segments including upstream, downstream, refining, chemicals, power and technology while Exxon Mobil operates upstream, downstream, refining, chemicals and natural gas power segments. On the surface, the companies have largely comparable businesses.... (more)

Jason’s BigDeaL Trade Alert #2

By Jason Seagraves on 21-May-2015 12:18 pm (1 week ago)BigDeaL Alert, ,
The stock market shrugged off the release of the Fed's late-April meeting minutes on Wednesday, as bullish traders chose to interpret the release as an indication that the Fed will push back its interest-rate liftoff. In truth, the minutes simply downplayed the likelihood of a June rate hike, which the futures market had already priced at a 0% probability, and seemed to indicate a likely September hike. The dollar has gained strength and the euro has weakened, as I projected in the Big Deal #1. Oil has also tumbled. But the market's reaction to the Fed minutes on Wednesday signaled a reversal in these trends, albeit a light and I think temporary one. Below are five-day charts for the euro and oil, as gauged by the CurrencyShares Euro ETF (ticker: FXE) and the United States Oil Fund ETF (USO).... (more)

Jason’s BigDeaL Trade Alert #1

By Alex Hebelka on 18-May-2015 14:40 pm (1 week ago)LaunchDL Alert,
Greetings! My name is Jason Seagraves – welcome to the first of what will be many of my Big Deal Newsletter market commentaries. Over the next several weeks, months, and beyond, I'll be providing analysis and actionable options trades twice a week: every Monday and Thursday at 12pm ET. These trades are intended to generate a minimum of $167 in monthly income, net of fees, to pay annual subscription costs of $2,000 (enough for all DividendLab services). There will be winners and there will be losers, but our goals are modest. I'd rather under-promise and over-deliver than the reverse! We'll be working with position sizes of approximately $2,000 and typically gunning for 20% gains. I'll be picking a lot of call and put spreads, both credit and debit, depending on the attractiveness of option premiums and my read on the broad market. We'll estimate fees at $20 "roundtrip" or about 1% of our trade, just to make things consistent for subscribers using different brokers with varying fee schedules. ... (more)

Good morning, The markets continue to rise. Our portfolio’s income holdings are strong with numerous names with high yields. A key goal is to find, research, and buy growth names for the portfolio.
